Eleanor Jean Gracey, 93, of Allison Park, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2021, at Vincentian Home. She formerly resided at Grace Manor at North Park. Born in Braddock PA, she was the daughter of the late William Gracey and Alma Kreiling Gracey. Eleanor was a 1946 graduate of Wilkinsburg High School. After high school she worked in the accounts payable department at Union Switch and Signal Division of the American Standard Inc., Swissvale, PA. until her retirement in 1988.
Eleanor belonged to the North Hills and Wilkinsburg Woman's Clubs. She was a member and Deacon of Hiland Presbyterian Church where she participated in the Worship and Music Programs. She was a member of the PA Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star North Hills #526. Eleanor had a great love of flowers and plants, and she often shared clippings with her friends and family. She was especially fond of African Violets and many colors of Christmas Cactus. Eleanor frequently gave tips on growing flowers and would offer her expertise on how to keep them blooming. She made many trips to the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens with her friends who shared her love of beautiful flowers and plants.
Eleanor leaves nieces Patricia Gracey, North Olmsted, OH, Norma Gracey, Freeport, PA, Deborah Suttner Clow (husband Randy) and Phyllis Suttner Martin (husband Tom), both of Irvine, CA, Carol Lough (husband Jim), Morgantown WV, Elnora Ziegler(husband Jim), Lancaster, PA, and nephews Keith Gracey (wife Teresa), Richmond, VA and Robert Gracey (wife Andrea) of Nokomis, FL. She was preceded in death by her two brothers William Gracey Jr, Robert Gracey sister Ruth Suttner and nephew Pete Suttner (wife Lisa) Portland OR.
Friends are welcomed at the H.P. Brandt Funeral Home 1032 Perry Hwy, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 on October 23, 2021 from 12pm to 1:30pm. Funeral service will take place at Hiland Presbyterian Church 845 Perry Hwy, Pittsburgh, PA 15229 at 2:00pm.
