Mama's soldier and protector, beloved son and brother. David was a proud soldier in the US Army and a Nashville recording artist. David loved God, his country, and family more than life itself. David loved to feel the air on his face, riding his bike, being as he always said, "A Momma's boy", being part of nature, and spending time with his family and friends gave him so much joy and peace.
Ranger is survived by his mother, Peggy Sue Homan and dad, David Wayne “Cowboy” Homan; father, Robert Paul Gilbert; wife, Angel Phillips Gilbert; sisters, Tammy Ketchum, Chrystal Cook, Jesseca Blackmon, Shannon McDole, Barbara Homan, Geri Homan, and Nichole Barker; brothers, Robert Gilbert, William Gilbert, John Gilbert and Dustin Homan and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty, NC; burial with military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Liberty, NC. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty.
Although David will be greatly missed by all here on Earth, His memory will live on in all who has been impacted by his heroic life...David Wayne Gilbert, "Soldier", "Ranger", "Bubby Wayne", "Big D" will never be forgotten.
