Jason was born on July 16, 1973 to Linda and John Schultz in Garden City, Michigan. He passed away on January 29, 2020. He is survived by his four daughters, Kayla, Emily, Jenna and Allison as well as his parents, Linda and John "Rick", his brother Ricky (Des), sister Sara, and nephews Dylan, Wyatt, and Tyson. Survived also by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Julie (2010) and also by his grandparents Elsie and John Schultz and Benjamin and Margaret Powell. Jason was a soon-to-be grandpa in the summer of 2020.
Growing up, Jason played baseball, soccer and football, was an avid boy scout, and spent several summers working on his uncle's farm to save money to buy his first car. He also liked to spend a lot of time with his cousins. We spent a lot of time together as a family and took many yearly trips to Greenfield Village and Cedar Point, and went on many family vacations.
Jason was a graduate of Wayne Memorial High School in 1991 where he was on the JV and Varsity football teams. After high school, he met Julie and they fell in love at first sight. They were married in 1999. Jason followed in his father's footsteps and became a commercial carpenter earning his Journeyman's License in 2005. He was the first person you could call if you needed any kind of home or auto repair. In his spare time he loved watching football, especially the Lions, Redskins and U of M, also watching NASCAR (#88 Dale Earnhardt), and the Detroit RedWings. He liked hunting, fishing and grilling for his family. He lived everyday quoting different movies and TV shows that he loved to watch.
Jason had many struggles that he worked hard to try and overcome. Even though he had a tough exterior, he was big-hearted and sentimental, especially when it came to his girls and family. We take comfort in knowing he is reunited with Julie and has finally found peace.
