Mrs. Yoneko Mayhugh, 66 of Jacksonville, NC passed away peacefully August 15, 2020. Mrs. Mayhugh, a native of Okinawa Japan is the daughter of Kisei Higa and Tsuruko Henna Higa. Yoneko was the sweetest and a most gentle saint. She will always be remembered for her silly stories and charming, cheerful laugh, delicious cooking, a delicate touch and her peaceful presence. Yoneko was an avid reader who always loved learning new things. Her family will always recognize her expert nap taking skills and her uncanny ability to look so impossibly comfortable. She could always be found watching any show related to Alaska while pleasantly crocheting colorful slippers or mending all of her husbands ripped clothes. She is survived and forever celebrated by her beloved husband, Paul Mayhugh; daughter Wendi Mayhugh; sons, William and Wayne Mayhugh. Two brothers, Hiroshi Higa, Kishun Higa; two sisters, Junko Isa and Yuriko Higa. Some of her hobbies included knitting, sewing and cooking. She was a doting mother and an active influence in the lives of her three children, William, Wendi and Wayne. She was always described as an adorable role model to her children by friends and acquaintances.
