Leroy was born in Arkansas to Robert Edward Matkin and Nonie (Wallingsford) Matkin on January 29th, 1937. He married Cornelia Mae Silliman on May 24th, 1962. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Santa Fe Trails and Transportation, and ABF Trucking before retiring. Leroy loved spending time with his children, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Leroy’s favorite hobby was his large koi pond in his backyard. His fish were his pets.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Matkin and Nonie (Wallingsford) Matkin; his brothers James and Bill; sisters Rita and Ruby; and several infant siblings; and his wife of 55 years, Cornelia Mae (Silliman) Matkin.
Leroy is survived by his brother, Victor Matkin of Chidester, Arkansas; his daughter, Peggy “Sue” Suiter and her husband, John Suiter of Basin, Wyoming; his son, Rodney Matkin and his wife Diana of Northglenn, Colorado; his daughter, Cassie Johnson and her husband, Michael Johnson, of Moody, Texas; his grandson, Brett Suiter and his wife, Lindsay Suiter and their children, Hannah, Olivia, Elijah, Lanee, and Emily; his granddaughter, Natasha Trout and her husband Al Trout; his granddaughter, Jessica Trippe and her husband Ryan Trippe; his granddaughter, Shawna Pellman and her husband, Damon Pellman and their son Ryker and daughter Addi Mae; his granddaughter, Jenna Smith and her husband Gregory Smith and their son, Ethan; his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Matkin; his grandson, Samuel Matkin; and his grandson, Aaron Johnson.
