He attended Pope John Paul II High School and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1990 where he met the love of his life Amy Hoodecheck Patterson. He returned to Florida to attend law school at Nova Southeastern and graduated in 1994. In 2006 John and Adam Balkan formed Balkan & Patterson, LLP in Boca Raton where he honed his craft for protecting victims and became Board Certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. John and Amy had two children, Kayla and Ryan, to whom he was dearly devoted. John parented with his whole heart, coaching their soccer teams, camping at Indian Princesses and Guides, running road races with them and being their biggest champion. He supported St. Coleman school and parish for years, serving up beer and corn hole bags at the Italian Festival, and donating whenever asked. He sponsored Lighthouse Point Soccer teams and Dinner Under the Stars. He served in Deerfield Beach Rotary in various positions over the years and on the city’s advisory board.
