Irene May Walter June 1, 1921 to February 23, 2021. With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Irene at Royal University Hospital at 99 years of age. Irene was born in Saskatoon to parents Alexander and Margaret Sellar. She attended Haultain School and graduated from Nutana Collegiate following which she worked for Mayfair Drug Store, Harrington’s Jewelry, and the University of Saskatchewan Bookstore before retiring. Left to mourn are sisters-in-law Evelyn, Doreen, Margaret, and Joyce along with brothers-in-law Elvin and George and many nieces and nephews on the Sellar and Walter sides of her family. Irene was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Margaret, husband Ernest, sisters Margaret (John), Janet (Mel), brothers James (Elva), and Robert as well as sisters-in-law Elizabeth (Jim), Emma (Phil), Ella (Vic), Winnie (Alan), Edna (Ernie), Lil (Gordon), Winnie, brothers-in-law Len, John, Edward, and Ewald. Irene was a gracious, caring, outgoing and social person and lived a very independent life on her own after Ernest’s death until a few months before her passing. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, dancing, bowling, curling, playing cards, bingo, family gatherings and travelling with friends. Due to Covid-19 there will be no funeral service. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Church Memorial Fund, Haultain Cemetery Fund, or to a charity of your choice.
