Juan Zayas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all, passed away at the age of 80 at his home in Englewood Florida on February 19, 2021. He was born on July 29, 1940 in Comerio, Puerto Rico and at the age of 20 he volunteered to serve his country by joining the United State Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic. Juan was a proud Vietnam Veteran, traveled the world, and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant after serving a distinguished and honorable 25 year career. After retirement, he joined then Florida Steel, now Gerdau-Ameristeel and retired as a Maintenance Supervisor after 21 years of dedicated service. He was a passionate fisherman and a skilled jack of all trades ready to help out any neighbor in need. Mr Zayas’ survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Zayas, sons Freddie and Roberto Zayas, sisters Maria Rodriguez, Carmen Michelson and Carmen White, brother David Zayas, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild. The family plans a private service.
