She was born in Petersburg, IL, June 18, 1926 the daughter of Rudolph H. and Etta L. (Roegge) Fricke. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lee Fricke, and two sisters; Dorothy Koopman and Carolyn Fricke.
Wilma was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS and served on various committees and boards. She was a member of the Trinity Ladies Aid, the Quilters and assisted with the financial recording each week. She entered her quilts in the Illinois State Fair for many years. One of her award winning quilts was displayed at the Abraham Lincoln Museum. Wilma retired in 1990 from Memorial Medical Center where she served as a Registered Nurse for over 43 years. She was instrumental in the starting of the Memorial Medical Center Retirees Club.
She is survived by her Sister, Jean (Jim) Beardsley of Santa Rosa, CA, two brothers, Howard (Sharon) Fricke of Topeka, KS and Jerry Fricke of Okeechobee, FL, her nieces and nephews: Rick (Rachel) Koopman and Kathy Koopman of Springfield, Ron Koopman of Decatur, IL, Ken Koopman of Ft. Myers, FL., Dan Beardsley of Santa Rosa, CA, Denise (Craig) Maudru of Camino, CA, Karen (John Panzer) Fricke of Rockville, MD, Steve (Robin) Fricke of Indialantic, FL, Dave (Linda) Fricke of Topeka, KS, Brian (Annette) Fricke of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Mark (Susan) Fricke of Chuluota, FL and Michael Fricke of Palmdale, CA. There are several great nieces and nephews as well as cousins.
Arrangements are in the care of Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL where the family will greet family and friends from 4-7 pm Thursday, April 8, 2021. A funeral service to be held at the funeral home, Friday April 9, 2021 at 10:30 am. Rev. Paul Hemenway officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
