She was born on November 26, 1952, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Edgar Wilson and Dolores Ross Wilson.
Deborah held a special place in her heart for those with disabilities and children; she began work with TVCCA head start as the lead teacher. She then went to work with Sea Corp., Lighthouse Vocational Education and Eastern Community Development while working with Foxwoods Resort Casino and MGM Grand.
Deborah loved sports and during the summer would share many laughs with her brother and brother in law when their teams played.
Deborah was heavily involved in church and being a part of several committees. Deborah enjoyed the woman’s meetings and sewing group. She was involved in the usher board and the Pastors Aid Committee. Deborah taught those around her to always give God thanks for what he has done. She would always say “give God his 10% and he will continue to bless you.” She was a God fearing woman who was never ashamed to give him thanks and praise for what he has done.
Deborah is survived by her son Xavier Day, of Groton; granddaughter Arline Cadet of Norwich; siblings Greg Starling and his wife Terry of Meriden, Keith Wilson, Sharon Brown and her husband Rev. Daniel C. Brown, and Cheryl Wilson, all of Groton, Janine Rucker and her husband Russell of Gales Ferry, Kevin Bell of Norwich, and Eddie Lee Wilson of New London; Aunts and Uncles, Joan Johnson of Groton, Calvin Ross and his wife Essie of New York City, William Ross of Groton, and Gerald Ross of New London. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 5th at 10am at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London. Burial will follow at Col. Ledyard Cemetery, Groton. A calling hour will be held for one hour prior to the service, from 9am-10am at the funeral home.
