Born in Providence, RI on December 20, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Ellen Silva. Dee was raised in Saugus, MA and then moved to Swansea where she spent the majority of her life.
Dee received an Associate’s Degree from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. For over 30 years, she worked for Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank as an Administrative Assistant. Dee also worked as a Manager Specialist for New England Loan Services. Upon retirement, she settled on Cape Cod.
Dee was a parishioner of St. Dominic’s Church in Swansea where she also served as a CCD Instructor. She was a talented musician who was able to play songs on the organ and piano by ear. Dee was a highly requested soloist for many church weddings and funerals in the area. For several years, Dee volunteered with the Visiting Nurse Association of Fall River. Alongside her cousin, Eileen, Dee traveled extensively throughout the United States. Together they visited over 30 states.
In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time outside; particularly gardening and bird watching. Dee loved the beaches of Cape Cod, observing wildlife, and playing Bingo.
She is survived and will be deeply missed by her cousin and friend of the heart, Eileen C. Pereira of South Dennis; and her Godchild, Karen Mades of Amesbury, MA; as well as her cousin, John Ruggeiro of Salem, NH.
At Dee's request, calling hours have been omitted. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook Rd., Brewster.
