Barry was born February 26, 1941 to Corlyn and Mary Bauman in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Mount Vernon High School and completed his education at Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana.
He worked for many years at University of Iowa Credit Union before retiring in 2003.
Barry was an adequate golfer, avid scuba diver and a genius at limericks and storytelling. Everyone remembers “Melba” and a good Barry story. You’ll never come across a more grounded and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of 48 years; daughters, Andrea (Mike) Obester and Elizabeth Bauman; grandchildren, Kellan and Bauer Obester; sister, Mary Kolbe; brother, William Bauman and sons, Ted and Brian Weller. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kent Bauman.
Barry will be greatly missed and remembered for his quick wit, stories and engaging personality. Thank you to all those who were able to join us in celebration of Barry’s life on Thursday, July 29 at Joe’s Place, Iowa City from 4:00-6:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Larimer County Office on Aging, Family Caregiver Support Program; 1501 Blue Spruce, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
