He was a native of Lake Charles, former resident of Pasadena, TX., and lived a short time in Woodward, OK. Blackie enjoyed fishing, playing his accordion, listening to Cajun music, and absolutely loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family. Blackie had a passion for cooking, and his pot of gumbo earned him bragging rights among the family and friends. He started working at a young age at Charley Natali's Gas Station in Lake Charles. After 40 years of proudly working for Halliburton, Blackie retired.
Blackie is survived his by his wife, Judith Credeur of Woodward, OK.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Brenda Moyer (Gary) of Kinder, Julie Johnson (Bruce) of Pasadena, TX., Barry Credeur (Tracie) of Pasadena, TX., and Mike Credeur (Mariselle) of Pasadena, TX.; grandchildren, Todd Elliot, Josh Elliot, Savanah Credeur Wood, Tee Bruce Johnson, Shanna Credeur Everett, Christopher Johnson, Alex Credeur, Whitney Johnson, Shane Credeur, Mitch Credeur, Lexie Credeur, Randall Credeur, Jr., Dodd Credeur, Ethan Credeur, and Evan Credeur; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Rene Bourgeouis (Chris) of Lake Charles; sister, Lillian Soileau (Lionel) of Lake Charles; and former wife and mother to his children, Betty Verret-Credeur.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Rene "Jim" Bourgeois, Sr. and Lily Derouen Bourgeouis; sons, Randy Credeur and Mitchell Credeur; sister, Vergie Mae LeBleu; and brother, Claude Joseph "Jimmy" Bourgeouis.
Visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Sunday, July 18, 2021 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will resume on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. until the time of services. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be immediately following at Prien Memorial Park.
