Leon Stewart Eshleman, aged 77, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2017. He was born to Jacob Daniel Eshleman and Lola Virginia Eckhart on November 8, 1940, at Ephrata Community Hospital in Ephrata Pennsylvania.
Leon graduated from Ephrata Community High School in 1958 and attended barber school in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1959. He cut hair for 13 years at Cellers Barber Shop in Denver, Pennsylvania. Later, he became a kitchen cabinet specialist for Wicks Lumber, where he was employed for 32 years. He retired from Wicks on February 28, 2003.
Leon was active with Denver Boy Scout Troup #32 for 33 years. He hunted and fished with his Dad since he was able to be carried across the creek. Every year the family would take a trip to Canada to go fishing with his family. His favorite trout creek was Seglok Creek, Pennsylvania. He loved saltwater fishing in the Chesapeake Bay with his parents and grandparents. Leon hunted deer, bear, and turkey in Spike Ridge Lodge, Potter County, Pennsylvania. With his sons and grandsons, he hunted in Nicholas County, Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed salmon fishing with his son and grandson on Lake Ontario.
Leon saw all but 3 of the states in the U.S. Together with his wife Nancy, he went on six cruises, visiting Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Honduras, and many other locations.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Goddard Eshleman; brother, Jay, and wife, Phyllis, of Lititz, Pennsylvania; son, Randy Eshleman, and wife, Denise, of Denver, Pennsylvania; daughters, Lee Ann DeHass of Wharton, Texas, and Yvonne Gutierrez of Houston, Texas; sons, Tyrone DeHass and wife, Kathy, of Trinity, Texas, and Nelson DeHass of Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren.
