James Daniel Cogan, Jr. (Jim), 79, passed away Wednesday, February 12 in Miamisburg, Ohio after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born June 10, 1940 to James Cogan Sr., and Jeannette (Steller) Cogan in Miamisburg, OH. He was a life-long resident of Miamisburg and spent countless hours volunteering and serving on numerous committees in the city he loved. He was previously active with the Spring Fling Festival, the Miamisburg High School Alumni Association (Class of ’58), the Baum Opera House renovation, the Zoning Committee, and Beautification Committee, among others. He retired from the “Mound” facility after a full career working there for Monsanto and then EG&G. After retirement, he also worked many years at Ace Hardware in Miamisburg.
Jim is survived by: his daughter, Suzanne (Cogan) Rumph; his son and his daughter-in-law, Anthony and Wendy Cogan; his grandchildren, Gracie Whitney, Emma Stoner, and Breck Cogan; his sister, Ada (Cogan) Graham; his niece, Jeanne Mueller; and his nephews, Joseph and Daniel Mueller. James is preceded in death by: his parents; and his sister, Janet Mueller.
Gathering of family and friends will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE FUNERAL HOME. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
