He was born and raised in Oneonta, NY, and in recent years was a long-time resident of Chicago, Illinois.
Anthony was predeceased by his parents, Andrea and Rose Amarose and his sisters, Rose Briguglio, Carmela Higgins, Mary Dorazio, Vera Spadafora and their respective spouses.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Nicholas Smedira of Endwell, NY. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Nancy wishes to express her gratitude to Loretta Cameron of Chicago, Illinois for her years of faithful and kind care and friendship to her brother, Anthony.
Anthony was a graduate of Oneonta High School and Fordham University where received a Bachelor of Science degree as well as his Doctorate degree in biology. Prior to his retirement, he was an Associate Professor in the Biological Sciences Department of the University Chicago. Additionally, he was the author or co-author of numerous scientific articles relating to genetics and chromosomal abnormalities.
Following a private visitation at the funeral home by family, a graveside committal service will take place on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 1:15 pm in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons, NY.
