Born September 11, 1933 in Baltimore. He was the son of the late Robert Hancock and Edith Stehl. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Hancock, his wife of 66 years.
John was a Catonsville High School graduate. He served in the Army as a heavy machinery mechanic and was employed for most of his career as a machinist. He also worked at various Maryland racetracks for many years. He retired to Ocean Pines where he spent many years enjoying fishing, family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife are children John Hancock Jr (Jack) and his wife Barbara of Finksburg, MD and Deborah Ann John and her husband Michael of Windermere, FL. He is also survived by four grandchildren – Chris, Ryan, Katy and Jim and two great grandchildren – Cooper and Cameron, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Albert and Robert Hancock and his sister, Florence Humbert.
A private graveside service will be held at Loudon Park Cemetery.
