He was born June 29th, 1929 in Middletown, Connecticut, son of Salvatore and Josephine DiMauro.
Joseph attended Middletown High where he was a star athlete and captain of the basketball team. Following graduation, he served with the United States Army as a Map Maker stationed in Japan. He later met his loving wife Lucille on a blind date in Hartford, Connecticut. They married September 19th, 1956. On their honeymoon they spent time in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and fell in love with the area. They later moved permanently in 1957. He enjoyed playing in a softball league with his brother-in-law, Jack. They returned to their home state for summers to see family and cheer on the Boston Red Sox with their children.
Joseph owned his own plastering and construction business. After his retirement he enjoyed visiting the boat docks to relax and watch the boats pass by.
He never left home without his Ralph Lauren long sleeve polo, jacket, khakis and New Balance sneakers. Joseph especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The highlights of his last years include spending Sunday afternoons watching his son, Joe make pizzas while his grandchildren and great grandchildren played in the pool. Joe loved driving over to Chem Quip weekly. Wednesday was always pizza day at the store. There he would visit with his son, Sal while enjoying his favorite veggie pizza.
He was a great father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. Joe will be missed by everyone who knew him, leaving a special place forever in all our hearts.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Lucille Marie. Survived by his son Joseph Salvatore DiMauro and wife, Beth; and son Salvatore DiMauro and his wife Debi; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Nicholas, Brandon, Alyssa, Salvatore Jr., Giovanni and Nicolette; three great grandchildren, Noah, Sofia and Lucas; two sisters, Josephine and Rose; and one brother, Salvatore.
A mass will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 16th at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 370 Southwest 3rd Street, Boca Raton, FL 33432.
