Personalized funeral services
At Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, we believe that no two lives are alike and as such, each funeral and memorial service should be as unique as the individual being honored. Whether you prefer a traditional service or a personalized celebration of life, associates at Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary help you create a tribute that truly reflects your loved one’s passions and individuality.
We’ve hosted all kinds of funeral and memorial services at Eternal Valley. For bikers, we’ve displayed motorcycles inside our chapels. For an avid coffee drinker, family members showcased her favorite coffee mug and served coffee cake. For a Dodgers fan, guests and many of our team members attended the celebration wearing Dodgers gear. Even the smallest gesture or detail can make a big difference; so we listen carefully to your wants and needs.
Serving people from all walks of life
The Santa Clarita Valley is a tight-knit and diverse community. It’s a place where people know their neighbors and happily welcome newcomers. At Eternal Valley Memorial Park Mortuary, we are proud to serve Santa Clarita families from all backgrounds, religions, faiths and cultures. Our experienced associates are well-versed in many funeral customs. We also have associates on our team who speak Spanish, Tagalog, Mandarin and Farsi.
Chapels for every need
Our well-appointed funeral home has two chapels: Chapel of the Hills and Chapel of the Oaks. Chapel of the Hills is an open-air, contemporary event space that can accommodate approximately 100-150 guests. Chapel of the Oaks is smaller and more traditional, with stained-glass windows, pews and seating for 60-75 guests. Should you wish to hold a catered reception before or after a funeral, we can accommodate that as well.
Cremation services
We specialize in cremation services that honor loved ones in personalized ways, and families love our transparent pricing. With expertise in scattering ashes and a friendly team who pays attention to every detail, we provide service that is second to none.
More and more people are choosing cremation over traditional burial, but most aren’t familiar with the many options:
- a cremation without a funeral or memorial service of any kind.
- a funeral with your loved one present, followed by cremation.
- a cremation followed by a scattering, cemetery memorialization or celebration of life—or all three.
For those who wish for a more momentous memorial, Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater cremation garden off the coast of Florida. A Celestis Memorial Spaceflight takes ashes into space for a little while or forever.
There are many options for cremation—and they're not all equal. Here's what you can expect when you choose us for your loved one's cremation:
- Custody of care guaranteed. Our custody-of-care program helps safeguard the identification of your loved one from the time we bring them into our care until the time we return them to your family. We check, cross-check and check again, every step of the way.
- Exclusive custody of your loved one. We use only crematories owned and operated by Dignity Memorial® providers or trusted partners. Once your loved one is in our custody or that of a trusted partner, they’re in our care until they’re returned to your family.
- Licensed, certified, conscientious staff. All Dignity Memorial crematory operators are licensed and certified by Cremation Association of North America, or CANA. Only one person at a time is cremated, and the cremation chamber is thoroughly cleaned before the next person is cremated.

Eternal Valley Memorial Park cemetery
Founded in 1958 by Mark T. Gates, Eternal Valley Memorial Park is situated on 220 hilly acres in Santa Clarita, California. With mature oak and pine trees, lush gardens that are green year-round, a hilly topography and stunning valley views, our cemetery property is a truly magnificent final resting place for your loved ones.
Burial, cremation and entombment options
At Eternal Valley, we offer a wide variety of burial, cremation and entombment options to suit your needs. Options include traditional burial with upright monuments or flat markers, customized memorials, double-depth burial, mausoleum or crypt entombment, private mausoleums and cremation memorials.
Special cemetery sections
We have several sections in our cemetery property dedicated to families who belong to certain groups and religions. For Catholic families, Our Lady of Lourdes for the Catholic Faithful garden has a committal area and is surrounded by private estates.
The Veterans section is dedicated to veterans and military families and features the Veterans Memorial Wall, which flies the POW flag, American flag and flags from each branch of the military. It also bears the names of Santa Clarita veterans who have passed away. Located at the top of the memorial park, the veterans garden offers spectacular views.
Honoring the traditions of people of Armenian descent, the Garden of Sardarabad includes a replica of the Sardarabad Memorial, a marvelous symbol of pride and survival built in Armavir, Armenia.
Garden of Inspiration
Our most recent cremation garden is Garden of Inspiration IV. This lovely and well-maintained garden is filled with greenery, shady trees, rose bushes and a tranquil waterfall fountain, which runs during committal services. Its distinct landscaping and topography sets it apart from other gardens at Eternal Valley. Cremation memorialization options include columbarium and cremation niches, boulders and benches.
Room for growth and expansion
At Eternal Valley Memorial Park, we are committed to preserving our rich and storied history while providing the services and products that today’s families need. Much of our land is still undeveloped and there is still plenty of availability in our developed areas. Although we are near many Los Angeles County freeways, you don’t need to worry about homes and industry encroaching on our vast cemetery property.
Historic Pioneers Garden
One of the most impressive and historic gardens at Eternal Valley Memorial Park is the Garden of the Pioneers. With monuments dating back to the 1800s, many pioneers of the Santa Clarita Valley are buried in this section, including Sanford Lyons. In 1855, Mr. Lyons established the eponymous Lyons Station, which served as a stagecoach stop, store, stage depot, post office, telegraph office, tavern and cemetery. It was located at the intersection of present-day Newhall Avenue and Sierra Highway.
Garden of the Pioneers is a remarkable and important final resting place for many generations of Santa Clarita families and still has space for future generations. Amid the giant trees, verdant shrubbery and cascading mountains, the special garden will pay tribute to the famous Southern California pioneers buried here forever.
Honoring veterans and military families
Each year, we host a Memorial Day event for the city of Santa Clarita that draws 2,000 people and is coordinated by local veterans. As part of the ceremony, local citizens read the more than 1,000 names of the Santa Clarita veterans engraved on our Veteran Memorial Wall, which is located at the top of the memorial park and offers sweeping views of the valley. We have also had the privilege to display the private collections of items from veterans in our Remembrance Room. In 2017, we showcased World War II memorabilia and played music from the era. We plan to continue this impacting exhibition in the years to come.
Involved in the Santa Clarita community
We are privileged to be a part of the Newhall and Santa Clarita community. In fact, many of our associates at Eternal Valley Memorial Park & Mortuary grew up in the area and can’t imagine living anywhere else. We support various local organizations, including the local senior center and chamber of commerce, and are involved in events like Little Miss Santa Clarita and Veterans Day ceremonies. We also host community events at Eternal Valley throughout the year, including a Memorial Day ceremony.

History
Before Eternal Valley was a memorial park or funeral home, it was a stagecoach stop founded in 1855 by Sanford Lyons, one of the pioneers of the Santa Clarita Valley. In addition to being a stagecoach stop, Lyons Station served as a store, stage depot, post office, telegraph office, tavern and cemetery for local families and passersby. In 1888, Henry Clay Needham—a prohibitionist businessman who developed the town of Newhall—purchased the land, established the 750-acre Needham Ranch and founded a cemetery within it.
Memorial ark and mortuary established
After Mr. Needham died in 1936, the ranch and cemetery passed onto his heirs, who sold it in 1957 to funeral director Mark T. Gates Sr. A year later, Eternal Valley Memorial Park opened and the 220-acre property was established as a non-profit, endowment care cemetery. In the 1960s, a funeral home was added to the location, making it the only combination cemetery and funeral home in Santa Clarita.
In 1972, Mr. Gates passed away and Eternal Valley Memorial Park was sold. The Gates family still owns the land surrounding the property that used to make up Needham Ranch and there are plans to redevelop the land for an industrial project
Today, we are members of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Over the years, we have remodeled and renovated our funeral home and cemetery to better meet the needs of the Santa Clarita Valley community. To complement our pioneering past, we strive to be pioneers in the funeral and cemetery industry and provide the services and products that today’s families want and need.
