Beautifully landscaped cemetery

Our peaceful cemetery is beautifully landscaped with trees, shrubs, flowers and a pond. All of our gardens have statues sculpted in Italy out of Carrara marble. The cemetery office is in the historic Ye Olde Valley Inn. The inn, built in 1740, was dismantled from its original location and restored at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

Many burial and cremation options

Susquehanna Memorial Gardens offers a range of burial and entombment options. For cremation, columbarium niches, private columbaria and cremation benches provide lasting tributes. The cemetery has 2 sections for lawn crypts. The Yorktowne Chapel Mausoleum provides an above-ground choice. We also offer private estates and family estates.

Gardens for military families and pets

It is our honor to serve veterans and military families. The Military Garden of Honor is dedicated to veterans and their immediate family members. And because pets are part of the family too, Noah’s Garden of Pets is reserved for furry and feathered friends.

History

Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York, Pennsylvania, was dedicated in May of 1958. The original owners were Fred Hill, Wentworth Vedder, Elmer Morris and John Regan. All are buried at the cemetery. Fred was laid to rest in the Hill private mausoleum, located at the entrance of the cemetery.

Our historic inn

In 1962, Ye Olde Valley Inn, the first inn built west of the Susquehanna River, was doomed for destruction. It was dismantled and restored as the cemetery office at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. The inn was originally built in 1740, and it played an important role in the Underground Railroad by sheltering runaway slaves.

Cemetery growth and expansion

In 1996, Susquehanna Memorial Gardens became a Dignity Memorial network provider and the development of the cemetery continued. Since 1996, we have developed 2 lawn crypt sections, 4 columbaria and a 2nd phase of mausoleum crypts.

Planning for the future

Susquehanna Memorial Gardens comprises 180 acres. Only 57 of those are developed. They hold more than 11,800 burials to date. With more than 100 acres still available for development, the cemetery can serve as a final resting place for many more generations.
