My sweet Carol. She came to my brother’s wedding in Scotland in 1979 and I was at her sister’s wedding in Montreal in 1980.

We were so sad to hear of Carol’s passing. She  was such a  lovely person, truly a kind and gentle soul. We had hoped to have many more years in which to get to know her better but it was not to be. Wishing the family healing and love as you grieve the deep loss of your darling sister.

My wonderful memories of Carol from our younger years—generous, caring, talented, wonderful, fearless. I will never forget her.

Auntie Carol was amazing, she was always positive, she was always there for you, she gave out a positive energy. 
There was no contract or list of demands, she was just there and interested in you and what you were doing.
Sometimes she had this mischievous look in her eye like she was secretly a wizard and she had some great master plan.
Her love of music and art inspired me so so much in my life.
I miss her deeply and I will miss her energy and how much she loved me, she always had a lot of love to give.

I’m so sorry to hear about Carol. I had a feeling she had passed and have been meaning to reach out. It’s so hard to say goodbye to those we love, but I do believe they are still with us in ways. I still think of you and my grandmother whenever I see a white butterfly.

Carol was a kind, gentle, warm hearted woman who made those around her feel special. I loved her beautiful smile and laugh, her lively intelligence and quiet intensity. She was a wonderful "auntie" to my kids and a loyal and devoted friend who will be very much missed. I'm deeply saddened that there will be no more opportunities to  spend time with her, to talk and laugh. Auntie Carol was our party clown when we were kids. She didn’t care how much trouble she was going to get into with our parents, as long as we were laughing and having fun. She had a heart of pure gold and would give you the shirt off her back to help you. Auntie Carol was an absolute angel,  and an incredible aunt to me.   Im going to miss her terribly.

Wayne and I were very sorry to hear of the passing of your sister Carol.  I know you were all very close.   I guess coming to terms with our mortality is our challenge for this time of life.  I am sure you spent countless moments of joy together and she would want you to dwell on those.  Our very deepest sympathies.  Love Linda and Wayne .❤️

Dear Fawn, What a beautifully mysterious soul….brought so much richness to the world and a little of her will go on living in this world mysteriously ❤️ While we never met Carol, your beautiful description of her makes us feel like we knew her through you. I am sitting outside on my back porch remembering all the good times I spent with The Sisters. Carol had such a generous, kind soul and I loved her fiercely. I don’t know where to start. We first met when I came to Vancouver with Pamela over 25 years ago. I instantly knew we would be friends. Over the course of that time, Carol made me feel welcome into the Sisters Clan. You also embraced my family and shared your love and kindness with them. The girls still talk of the great times that they spent with Auntie Carol. Please know that I will always carry you in my heart and I promise to look after Pamela and Fawn. I love you Carol and will miss you.

So sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. I have fond memories of Carol. I am forever grateful  for her hospitality when Renee and I visited her in NDG ( we lived in St Bruno then, so just cross town eh!) and attended Sunday in the Parc with her. Yeah that was fun, me thinking I’d be a sound engineer and I end up as an Oil Sands electrician, I liked to eat I guess. Thinking about you all in this time of Carols passing. Dear Carol, one of your many gifts to us was the welcome you provided when we first found ourselves in Vancouver, to live. It was like being greeted by family, shown where to hang our hat, where to go, how to get the most out of the city. And true to form, all your life experience came into our discussions of culture, our youth, being in the world at large. You struck us as a very brave person, quiet and wise; artistic of course, fine values of the best sort. And knowing you has helped us absorb what a generous spirit brings to this world: the example of kindness. Hopefully, that is how we can all endure.  Heartfelt condolences to all the family. I’m so sorry to hear about Carol’s passing. I have very fond memories of our time together. My sincerest condolences.

My condolences. She was a dear friend in high school back in the early sixties. May she rest in peace.

Carol made us feel special. Her warmth was ever present. And I loved  her trilling laugh. Her smile transformed her.

Oh no so sad. Pamela my condolences to your friends and family. I remember her from Dunton High School way back when. Pamela, I  remember our days with Evelyn Hertel  and Christine Miller when we hung out together at Dunton. Good times and great memories. I would see Carol from time to time. Carol was a very special friend and will be forever in our hearts. May all the happy memories you have made with your sister help you through this difficult time.

It is beyond grief, a dark hole where we sit now that Carol is gone. 

For so many years she had been our North Star, guiding us through life as best she could, as she wandered thirsty for something else, something more for herself.

Carol had accomplished a few careers during her time, she was an excellent student with an outstanding memory, and acquired a love for fashion, art, dance, music and anything chocolate.

When Carol smiled you felt good, something inside you would want to be joyful, her blue eyes sparkled at you, and her calm would allow you tell her anything, good, bad and ugly, she would understand.

There was certainly no better auntie than Carol to her four nephews. You would be gone out for the evening and upon return to find the children up way past their bedtime with huge smiles on their faces, while absolutely every room in the house was a disaster area.

Carol wasn’t perfect, far from it. But that is exactly what made her one of the most authentically creative human beings I’ve ever encountered.

She did not lack skill to go with that creativity, becoming a fashion designer, artist, decorator and jewellery maker. Not to mention her medical career.

Carol was aloof but close, book smart yet terrible with finances, adored cooking but couldn’t manage to cook anything edible, could be stealthily still, to the point you found yourself wondering when her tail was going to twitch, and never found the truly perfect bed for her sleep. Stubborn as the day is long, and generous to a fault. 

Carol loved the sea, the coastline, “la grand bleu”, she was sporty in her youth and later a skier. She loved to travel and was especially fond of adapting her own surroundings with touches of Borghese or Versailles into her living spaces.

Carol always had an aura of mystery around her, she was an incredibly private person whose physical beauty never faded, not even when she became quite ill.

She will forever be in our hearts and soul and the music she left behind.

On behalf of the palliative care unit at Abbotsford Hospital, we wish to share our condolences. It was a privilege providing care for Carol.

Carol has been as close as family could possibly with us for over 40 years. We shared some wonderful memories with her in Montreal and when she moved here to BC back in the early 1980’s a few years after us,  we became connected again. Her and Starr shared many shopping trips followed by dinners at the house laughing about our early days but also planning for the tomorrows that were to come. Carol never stayed thinking about the past for too long. She always had projects, special events coming up and more importantly wanted everyone to join in. As her family and our’s grew she became that wonderful Auntie that everyone dreams of having in their lives. She was quick to share her love of music, art, design, sewing, bead work and all put into perspective with her quirky sense of humour. Because of all of the love she brought to our relationship she will never be far from our thoughts, our hearts and those memories will live long in the memories of our children.  We love you so much Kid!
