We are so sad to say that our cherished sister Carol Chichinskas, lovingly known as C² passed away Saturday morning, July 5th, 2025 after a long illness.
Born in Montreal, Carol attended Mohawk College School of Art & Fashion Design, Bishop’s University and Dawson College School of Nursing. As a professional registered nurse her career spanned over 20 years and took her across the country and beyond. Her passion in life however, was her love of the arts. She was also an artist, an oil painter, a jewelry maker and fashion designer. She was an avid jazz and opera lover (although she loved most music). She loved science and was fascinated by the world around her and loved to travel. Carol was enthralled to discover new places and cultures and was eager to appreciate all they had to offer.
But most of all Carol loved her friends and family. She was dedicated to her two sisters: Pamela and her husband Patrick, Fawn and her husband Paul. Her family included her four beloved nephews, their wives and children: specifically Christopher and Val (sons Noah and Liam); Julien and Ashley; Maxwell and Dominika (daughter Emma); and Paul Jr. and Maria.
She was especially close to cousins: Dale and Lois and their families; Valerie and Frank (daughter Jessica); Janet; and Donna; and also to dear friends Tom and Starr (daughter Maddy and family); Peter and Normand; Tammy (daughters Emma and Julia); Martha and Mitch (daughters Jaime and Rory); Doug and Sue; Annalisa (children Callum and Anika); Rodney; and Vickie.
We would like to thank Carol’s dedicated GP Doctor Sarah Culkin. We would also like to thank the incredible staff on the Palliative Care Unit of Abbotsford Regional Hospital; to the phenomenally hard-working nurses, nursing assistants and doctors (there are too many to mention by name) but with special shoutouts to Doctor Mattie, Kendra, Jaz, Amanda, Elaine, Melissa, Mike, Austin, Jess, Jaswinder and more who offered their kindness and gentle care. Special thank you to the tea ladies and all the wonderful volunteers who spend their time delivering special treats along with comfort to patients on the ward.
A celebration to honour Carol will be announced later this summer. In the meantime, please share your fondest memories, photos and videos of Carol on the Henderson’s Fraser Valley Funeral Home, Dignity Memorial website
