It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Gilles Marc Gerard Bouvier. Born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on September 8, 1938, Gilles peacefully went to be with the Lord, on January 18, 2026 in Chilliwack, BC. Predeceased by his wife Irene (2009), grandson Michael (1992) and sister Lucille, Gilles is survived by his children, Marc (Virginia), Michele (Dave Pellizzari), and Denis (Angela), grandchildren Caroline, Christopher, Madeleine, Daniel, Nathalie, Joshua, and Katelyn, as well as five great-granddaughters, Emerson, Sophia, Mia, Zoe, and Olivia. He will be missed by his brothers Rene and Raymond, as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
With his new bride, Irene, Gilles moved to B.C. in 1956 for better work opportunities and to start a family. He first settled in Coquitlam, and in his retirement, bought a home on the Chilliwack River where he loved having his family over for many barbecues, dinners and family reunions. He was excited to try some of the best fishing waters in the world, especially salmon fishing in the waters off Bamfield and the Vedder River, B.C. Next to his grandchildren, fishing was one of his biggest passions.
Having taught school in the Coquitlam school district for 32 years, ‘Mr. B’ made a positive impact on his many students and considered many of his coworkers friends along the way.
Gilles was always there for his family in so many ways and he will forever be loved and cherished for his warm smile and giving heart.
A funeral Mass will take place at Good Shepherd Church - 2250 150 St, Surrey, BC V4A 9J3 on Tuesday, February 24th, at 11:00 am. With his final resting place next to Irene at the Gardens of Gethsemane in Surrey, B.C.
"With All Our Love. We Will Miss You Everyday."
