

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Peter Peters (Rose), sister Annie (Bill Bergen), brothers-in-law Jake Baerg and Reinhold Jagush, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families across Canada and US, as well as a very special lifelong friend and co-educator (Victor Newman). Helmut was predeceased by his parents, Abram and Katherine Peters, four sisters and two bother-in-laws; Anita Jagush, Mary and Jake Letkemann, Tina Baerg, Helen and Henry Hildebrandt.
Helmut came to Canada with his family in 1949. They settled as labourers on a farm in Linden, AB. After a few years of service the family moved to Coaldale, AB. In 1955 the family pulled up roots in Coaldale and moved to Clearbrook, BC.
Helmut acquired christian education in MEI, Abbotsford, BC followed with two years of Bible School. In his younger years was very involved in Sunday-school teaching and youth ministries. He proceeded to get his teaching degree at UBC and devoted his life to teaching in Northern BC; he will be remembered for his generosity and care to; native children during his career years, fun times in summer with family to the MB lakes, camping, waterskiing, etc. and after his retirement, got involved with H & H, transporting German travellers from the airport to pick up their recreation vehicles. As a hobby he enjoyed stamp and coin collecting.
A memorial tribute will be held at Evergreen Village, 31955 Old Yale Road, Abbotsford at 2:30 pm on Thursday, June 9th.
