He was the loving husband of Liliana for 68 years. Survived by his sons Ron (Ruby) and Terry (Heather), granddaughters Alexandra (Jeffery) and Leah (Rafael), great-grandson Theo, brother-in-law Gino (Lorraine) and nephews and nieces in New Brunswick.
Predeceased by his parents Edgar and Audrey Frenette, his brothers Charlie, Robert and Cully, sister-in-law Ada and his son Ken.
Gene served with the Canadian Army during World War II in France, Germany and Italy. After the war he transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Edmonton. It was there he met and married Liliana, also a member of the Air Force. The family was stationed across Canada at various bases until Gene retired to Vancouver in 1970.
Gene’s great sense of humour and mischievous grin were enjoyed by everyone who got to know him. He enjoyed travelling with Liliana and family, fishing and camping trips and the company of his friends and extended family.
The family would like to extend many thanks to the Langley Hospital doctors, nurses and student nurses as well as Langley Hospice and their staff and volunteers for all the care Gene received. In lieu of flowers a donation to Langley Hospice Society would be greatly appreciated.
A service for Gene, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 13th at Henderson’s Fraser Valley Funeral Home, 34537 Marshall Road in Abbotsford. Friends and family are invited to attend.
