It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we say goodbye too soon, to our beloved father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and cat dad. Our love for Jason will never end. He left this life suddenly due to a vehicle accident on Friday September 6, 2024 at the age of 39 near Lillooet, British Columbia to go home to heaven. He will be missed by many including his family, friends, a great boss and co-workers.
Jason was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Jeanne Moir and paternal grandparents, William (Bill) and Patricia (Pat) Palmateer as well as his uncle James (Jim) Storey and great uncle Gordon (Gord) Moir. Jason leaves behind his former wife Amanda, mother of their three girls, Adria (15), Sephira (11), and Camilla (7) of Abbotsford, BC, parents Daniel (Dan) and Tracy of Raymond, AB, brother Brandon of Woodstock, ON, sister Jenna (Colin) Slingsby and their three children Ethne, Camden and Victoria of Coalhurst, AB, along with many more loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jason was born on December 1, 1984 in St. Thomas Ontario, Canada, with his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins near by in Union and London. He lived there until 1992, moving to Woodstock with his family where he spent his school year. As a youth Jason loved skateboarding, reading, drawing, fishing, hiking and video games. He also enjoyed many genres of music including rock, heavy metal, electronic, drum and bass, classical (surprisingly to his mom), and even some oldies. Jason loved working with his hands and eventually attended North American Trade Schools in London, ON where he graduated with honours from the Building Trades Technology program. He had several jobs over the years but construction was where he was happiest. He enjoyed many adventures with his brother Brandon and cousin Jon. They were three peas in a pod as boys. In early adulthood Jason and Jon had a couple of road trips out to Alberta and British Columbia where Jason fell in love with the mountains. Jason eventually moved out to BC with his family to live in those mountains. He found construction work with a few builders and was currently putting his carpentry and other construction skills to work building beautiful homes in Tulameen on Otter Lake near his home in Princeton, BC.
We were blessed to be together as a family this past Christmas of 2023, and again just recently in August of this year. In August we enjoyed many fun times together and celebrated his oldest daughter Adria's 15th birthday. New memories were made at Park Lake, AB near his sister Jenna's home, kayaking, swimming and laughing together. Exploring Waterton Lakes National Park with its majestic scenery and wildlife and walking in the water in Red Rock Canyon was a great adventure too. The highlight of our time together was going to the Royal Tyrrell Dinosaur Museum in Drumheller, AB. Jason and his girls along with his parents finished off a fun vacation with tubing on the Milk River Reservoir, and climbing the hoodoo's at Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park in Alberta. Jason also had some wonderful moments in the last couple of weeks of his life with his cousins Jon and Trey. We will be forever grateful for these times together.
As we celebrate Jason and the connections we all have had with him may you treasure the memories you've made.
