It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John (Jack) R. Neufeld at his home on October 28th, 2021. He was born on April 20th, 1954, in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, to Henry and Elizabeth (nee Bergen), and was the youngest of 9 siblings - Bill, Don, George, Bob, Ed, Roger, Betty, and Wes. In 1973 Jack joined his brother Wes in Vancouver and started to make BC his home. As a young men do, Wes and jack worked various jobs, sticking together much of the time.
In 1977, Jack married his wife of 34 years, Connie (nee Furtado). They had 2 children, Dawna Lee and Jonathan Wesley, of whom he was very proud. In the late 70’s, they moved to Booth Ave in Burnaby, where many good times were had. Close friends and family often gathered there after work, on weekends and holidays. Jack loved the outdoors and took his family on camping trips every year, again, family and close friends often joined in. These were truly good times. Jack enjoyed being near the water, whether it be trips to the Island to visit brother George, sister Betty and her husband Mel to fish for salmon, crab fishing at Cates Park with his son, or simply going down to the river to just sit. Hunting with his brothers and friends was also something he looked forward to every year... Bear in the spring and Deer in the fall. The Cabin in The Christian Valley, with truly Montana like scenery was one of his favorite places on this earth.
Jack enjoyed country music, and you’d often hear the base lines of a Johnny Cash tune when you entered his home. He had a soft spot for animals and loved the family dogs – Harley, Gracie and Lucious. In his later years he would visit the local swamp and feed his ducks almost daily. He was a “Fix it Yourself” kind of man and could build or fix almost anything. Jack, although having a stern exterior, had a heart of gold. A heart that genuinely wanted to and was willing to help in any way he could, but, in the same breath, he’d tell you to go pound sand if he wasn’t buying what you were selling. He was a father, a son, a brother, a husband, an uncle to countless nieces and nephews, and a friend to many.
Rifle on his shoulder, he walks the fenceline til it’s his turn to cross over and join his brothers.
Jonny loves you.
