June Anne (Sallie) Hooper was born to Carl and Annie (McDermont) Sallie on February 29,1948 in Edmonton, Alberta and passed away on April 30, 2025 at Tabor Home in Abbotsford B.C. She was under the care of Woodlawn Funeral Home and per her request, cremated with no service except to have her ashes scattered at Shannon Falls outside of Squamish BC. This request was given in 1978 during the family's first of many summer vacations there.
Waiting to welcome her in the afterlife, as she believed, are her mother and father Annie and Carl, her brother Ken Sallie, grandson DJ Allison, and her late husband of 40 years Daniel Hooper.
June is survived by her sister Diane, daughter Angela, son James, grandchildren John, Paul, Joanne, Kendal, and Kamden, as well as many other great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She will also be missed by her lifelong friends Jan Harris, Pauline McDowell, Lorene Singleton, Christine Beaulieu, and the entire Werk clan.
June touched many lives and learned that family does not just have to be blood related, but can be found in friends as well. She had a caring heart and tried to help anybody who needed it. She would take in friends and help them get back on their feet. She would open up her Thanksgiving dinner (which she would spend 4 days cooking) to any of her friends who needed a place to go. She was a lover of music and the music scene in general. A backbone between Seattle and Vancouver in the 70's and early 80's, crossing paths with musicians like Heart, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers, Jerry Doucette, Chilliwack and so on....She was there in the beginning of Mushroom records. This scene also can take a toll on you as easy money and the fast pace lifestyle can bring you down in a hurry. June definitely struggled at times during her life because of this, being sent to jail multiple times, the last being in Florence, AZ for identity theft in the early 2000's. It can also have you make bad family choices while trying to recreate that lifestyle again. June was far from perfect but hopefully finding spirituality later on in her life and trying to make amends for her actions earlier in her life gave her peace of mind. With all of this being said, imagine how big her heart actually was to have all those flaws and still be one of the most caring, thoughtful, giving, and motherly humans to ever exist. She will always love you to the Moon And Back!
A Ceremonial Scattering of Ashes will be held at Shannon Falls in Squamish BC at a later date, with picnic/reception following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in June’s name to an animal shelter of your choice.
