

Kathariena Lewin passed away peacefully in her 94th year after a brief illness. Kathariena was born on September 9th 1918 in Petrovka, Russia to Jacob and Anna Giesbrecht. She and her family immigrated to Canada when she was eight years old and settled in Anaheim, Sask. She married John Lewin in May 1937 and they lived in Middle Lake, and Humboldt, Sask., and Abbotsford, BC.
She was predeceased by her husband John Lewin in 1996 and her brothers Jacob, David, Peter and Frank also predeceased by one great grandchild, Jessica Lewin. She leaves behind her brother Abraham (Agnes) Giesbrecht and sister-in-law Katie Giesbrecht, four children Beatrice (Bill) Hildebrand, Edward (Pearl) Lewin, Margaret (Walter) Cornies and Terry (Hugh) Hardless, nine grandchildren Brenda (Hildebrand) Peters and her husband Marv, Bart Hildebrand, Kelly (Lewin) Allen and her husband Richard, Kevin (Brenda) Lewin, Donald Cornies, Chad Cornies, Ebony (Hardless) Marconato and her husband Rick, Clementine (Hardless) Huff and her husband Michael and Nathan Hardless and nine great-grandchildren Mikaela Peters, Amanda Peters, Danika Peters, Kristina (Allen) Hudson, Veronica Allen, Jacqueline Lewin, Alexandria Lewin, John Huff and Nico Marconato, three great-great grandchildren Liliana Hudson, Gloriana Hudson and Zachariah Hudson.
Mom enjoyed reading and studying her Holy Bible, sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, travelling, and being a homemaker. She worked at Menno Home as a Practical Nurse, travelled to the Holy Land in 1972 and sang in the Happy Gang. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Church of God (Seventh Day).
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. G. Lewis and the nurses on Baker 3 for their compassion and special care for Mom during her brief stay at Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
