She is survived by her three sons, Glen (Philadel), Tim (Carol) and Mike (Brenda) as well as 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Laura was predeceased by her sister Ruth and her loving husband Norman Edward Sargeant (2007).
Laura was born September 7, 1929 on the prairie near Swift Current, Saskatchewan. In time, the Bergen family moved into town where Laura graduated high school. Once again, the family moved, this time to the Sumas Prairie area near Abbotsford, B.C. It was here where she met Norman and they married in 1950.
Norm and Laura settled in Yarrow, B.C. where they raised their three boys. Laura was a stay-at-home loving, caring mother and excellent housekeeper. She is remembered by the family for her excellent baking. Once the boys were out of the house and building their own families, Norm and Laura moved to the Okanagan for a few years and then again back to Abbotsford.
In her spare time Laura spent many hours doing needle point work, crossword puzzles and in later years doing jigsaw puzzles, painting and enjoying coffee at the mall with friends.
Anyone who knew Laura spoke about her as being a sweet, kind and caring person. Even in her waning days, the wonderful care givers at Jackman Manor echoed this sentiment.
