Leonore Ruth Day died on May 10th, 2023. Predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Wynne H. (Bud) Day. Leonore is survived by her 5 children, Donald, Douglas, Kenneth, Margaret, and Mary, as well as 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, June 15, 2023 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 6340 No. 4 Road, Richmond BC.
In 1942, as a 19 year old, Leonore joined the Air Force and travelled to Guelph, Ontario, where she learned Morse Code and then taught it to the young airmen before they went off to fight in the second world war.
Upon Bud’s return from the Royal Air Force, where he served as a radar operator in Tenby, Wales, they started producing their bundle of kids.
Mom loved being in her garden and could take almost any old seed or dying plant and nurture it into a thriving flower, shrub or tree. She also loved her homes over the years, having lived in many beautiful places including Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast, Hood Canal, and finally Abbotsford. Her homes were also a testament to how she never wanted to throw away any scrap of anything that might prove useful one day!
Mom celebrated her 100th birthday with a party attended by many members of her family. It was a chance for her to see what she had contributed to the world and for us to wish her well on her birthday and beyond.
