Dear Barbra, Marcel, and Family
I just learned of the sad news about Malcolm's passing. My prayers are with you all. We loved getting to know both your family and  Malcolm while he played and learned with us at Tiny Tots Playschool.  I feel blessed to have been a part of his day.  I still have the box that Malcolm made with his handprints all over.  It must have been a fun day at home, dipping his hands in green, orange, yellow and blue paint!  Inside was a note that said "Hands off to you!".  I can't remember what was inside the box but I do remember at the time that the box was a keepsake!
Please give your children a hug from me, my heart goes out to them. 
My thoughts and prayers are with you - knowing that your days and weeks ahead will be difficult.

I am so sorry to hear about Malcolm's passing. I did my TA practicum at Mountain Elem. last year and worked with Malcolm a lot. I will never forget our great times together. He was such an amazing boy and I feel certain that he taught me far more than I could ever teach him. My first day in the class Malcolm ran to greet me with a big hug and then tugged me over to play games with him. Every day after that I was sure to be greeted with a big hug and a huge smile. Despite some teachers' efforts to teach us both that Abby school districts discouraged teachers from hugging their students Malcolm was very persistent to find a way to hug me. Including joining me on a lunch time walk around the school only to hug me as soon as the teachers weren't looking :D I've never felt more loved than I did in that moment... He made me feel blessed and loved every day I was there! My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you every day!

Barbra and Marcel, I want to say what a privilege it was to help take care of little Malcolm during his central Alberta days. He was the little man who kept surprising the pessimists and also kept everyone humble. He always seemed above his troubles and was clearly loved dearly. I'm sure you wish you could see him now renewed to his potential, but of course you will someday. My thoughts and prayers are with you during the tough weeks ahead when you miss him so much. To the Eeltink Family,

We were so saddened to hear of Malcolm's passing.  You may remember me as a teacher at Holy Family School. My daughter, Emily, was also in Malcolm's class.   I remember very specifically one day when my own mother was terminally ill in the hospital, I had just come from visiting her and went into the classroom to pick Emily up.  Malcolm bolted across the room (and I mean bolted) with outstretched arms and gave me the biggest hug.  I will never forget it because I truly felt the arms of God.  My husband Dean also has fond memories of Malcolm.  He spent the day with him on the Ellis Bird Farm field trip and commented on how he was a gentle soul.  From the Downey family I would like to send our deepest sympathies.  May you find comfort through God and the promise that we will be united again someday.  God bless you. It was a sad day to hear of the passing of dear Malcolm.  I fondly remember the first time I got to work with Malcolm at Tiny Tots Playschool and I was blessed to be able to move on with him to Holy Family School.  His determination and energy inspired all who had the privilege of knowing him.  I hold many fond memories of our time together close to my heart...  His hugs were the best ever!!! May all your wonderful memories help you through this very difficult time.

Dear Barb & Marcel, my heart aches for you & your family. It was a privilege to be Malcolm's nurse in Red Deer SCN, back in 1999. Where has the time gone? Seems like just yesterday that I was cuddling & rocking him, in your brief absences. He had a full life with you, you were determined to help him reach his potential. Hey there I was in Malcolms grade 1 and 2 classes. I will always remember his big smile he put on everyday for us.I learned how to do sign language from him and when ever I went to play with him he had the best laugh. My prayers are with you all. Malcolm will be missed but he will always be with you.

I often visited the class at Mountain as a district helping teacher.  I always spent some very enjoyable time with Malcolm.  He had such a magnetic and loving personality. It was a pleasure to be a part of his life.  My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.
