Peter Thiessen

THIESSEN - Peter was born in Neider-Chortiza, Ukraine on July 8, 1941. In 1948, Peter, his mother and siblings moved to Paraguay. They farmed there until September, 1960, when they moved to B.C. On June, 11, 1966, Peter married his wife Gerry (nee Fisher) and later had three children, David, Maureen and Darlene. He has lived in Mt. Lehman for the past 41 years and passed away in his home on July 17, 2012, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, always remaining positive. Peter was semi-retired for the past few years and enjoyed traveling with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Helene Thiessen, brothers John, Cornelius, Henry and sister Helen Reimer. He is survived by his wife Gerry; children David (Anita), Maureen (Todd) and Darlene; five grandchildren, Shane, Brandon, Jenna, Sarah and Rob. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 23, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. Interment to follow at Hazelwood Cemetery, 34070 Hazelwood Avenue, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of BC.
