Born in 1934 she was the middle child to Rosario and Beatrice (Murphy) of Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. Memere used to tell me how her father was the Rawleigh’s rep and her mom stayed on the farm and raised the kids.
She had her first son Gerald followed by Ivan and her daughter Lynda. Gerald gave Memere grandchildren - Derek, Amber and Autumn. Her son Ivan had one son Kyle but sadly in early 2000 she lost Ivan to a terminal illness. Her daughter Lynda had two kids, Christy and Clayton. All together her grandchildren gave her great grandchildren -James, Jackson, Ryder, Bryce, Brayden, Braxton, Davin, Axton, Natalie and Christopher. All of her children meant the world to her.
In her life she had so many stories and adventures like trips to Disneyworld with her kids, up to Alaska for fishing and to Sweden with her companion Torsten. Over the years she owned and operated many restaurants in Alberta with many people coming to try her home cooked treats. After retirement she opened a new and used store in Port Alberni where she always greeted everyone with a smiling face. She had so many friends all over and was always up for a game of crib or cards.
There would never be enough words to tell you all the great things about this fantastic woman but for those of us that were blessed to have her in our lives we will be forever thankful.
Thank you so much to the incredible nursing staff of Baker 2 at the Abby Hospital that helped us take care of her during her final days. To the wonderful friends at Taber Manor where she lived the last few years of her life, thank you each and everyone of you for taking care of her and supporting her, she loved you all very much.
It’s time now for Memere to go, time for her to go see her mom and dad and give Ivan a hug for us.
