Ruby was born to Lydia and Johannes Strom in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan on December 19, 1935. She passed away with her children at her side, surrounded by love, on July 24, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband Frank (March 1990), brother, Anthony, sisters, Isabel Gledhill, Tilly Neilson, and Anne Fuchs.
Ruby leaves behind her beloved daughter, Roberta (Kieran), son, John (Desiree/Gary) (Janene) (Carver/Tanya) (James/Miranda), son, Stewart/Lisa (Kristin) (Joshua) (Lindsay), and several great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Sammartino and brother, Orman Strom.
Mom loved watching sports, playing softball, badminton, bowling and square dancing. Ruby always had time for a game of cards including canasta, cribbage or bridge, and always enjoyed the company of many wonderful friends and family. Ruby loved knitting afghans, dish cloths and slippers for the family.
A burial will be held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025, beginning at 10:00am at Hazelwood Cemetery 34070 Hazelwood Ave, Abbotsford. A Celebration of Life will follow on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025 beginning 11:30am at Henderson’s Fraser Valley Funeral, 34537 Marshall Road, Abbotsford, BC.
