It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tim Paller - a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, and teammate. Tim passed away at the age of 62 in Abbotsford, BC. He is survived by his soulmate, Nicole, and his beautiful daughter, Lola. He was born in Calgary, Alberta, in 1964 to Marilyn and David Paller, and grew up alongside his siblings, Mike and Lisa.
In 1968, Tim’s family moved to Abbotsford, where he discovered his lifelong passion for hockey. From his early days playing on the Pinky Car Wash team, the rink became his second home. Known as a true team player, Tim formed deep and lasting friendships that extended far beyond the game. After graduating from Dr. Marn LeBoldus High School in Regina, Saskatchewan, Tim played for the Abbotsford Flyers before joining the Penticton Knights for the 1984-85 season, a pivotal year that brought lifelong friendships he cherished.
In 1985, Tim moved to Calgary to pursue his education, and his high school sweetheart, Nicole, soon joined him. Aer more than a decade together, they were married in 1995. In 2005, they welcomed their daughter, Lola, who became the light of his life. The newest member of the Paller family joined them in 2018, their beloved dog Lucy, who became Tim's second child. As a family, they shared a love for camping, road trips, and time spent together with friends.
In later years, Tim continued to play beer league hockey with Roadkill, where the camaraderie and friendships meant just as much as the game itself. He was funny, kind, loyal, and full of warmth. The twinkle in his eye and his laugh were unforgeable, and anyone who shared a campfire with him knew how special he was.
Tim was a dedicated and hardworking family man, who built a long and respected career. Over the years, he took on many interesting roles, including positions at the Pacific Coliseum, Peace Arch Hospital, and with I.A.T.S.E. Special Effects for movies and TV series. He also dedicated 16 years as a Maintenance Technician with the City of Abbotsford. To many in the community, he was the beloved “Zamboni Guy,” known for his signature, inconceivable fro and his pride in making the ice perfect for every game. Tim was exceptionally skilled in maintenance systems, even achieving the first ever perfect score on his entrance exam at Peace Arch Hospital. His sharp mind, strong work ethic, and commitment to safety earned him the trust and respect of all who worked alongside him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
