William Gordon Stewart MacFarlane

Gord was born on Nov 22, 1931 in Windsor, Ontario and worked for the Champion Spark Plug Company from 1956-1991. After marrying his wonderful wife Anne Schneikart and having their first child, Donna, they were transferred to B.C. in 1964. In 1967 their son John was born. Gord built their house in Tsawwassen and raised the family there until 1990. The family attended Saviour Lutheran Church and was very involved in all aspects of the congregation. He was part of the founding families that built the church in Ladner. His leadership skills were very evident as he was the first executive director at the church and was in the position for many years. He loved all sports but golfing with friends and curling at the Tunnel Town Curling club and later at Abbotsford Curling Club were highlights. After the kids left the nest in 1990 he and his wife moved to Abbotsford, B.C. where he retired a year later. They became involved at Trinity Lutheran church and he taught bible study there for 25 years. He continued to golf and curl with new found friends and traveled with Anne until 1998 when sadly Anne passed away. What a blessing to have so many friends in the church, on the golf course and in the curling rink.

Dad was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved people and he had a positive, hardworking, and fun-loving personality that drew people in. His family will miss his sense of humor, support and love. His example will be felt for generations through the lives of the people he touched along his life’s journey. Your job is now done. Well done good and faithful servant.

Gord is survived by his daughter Donna (Jim), grand-daughter Tanya (Chris) great grandchildren Ryker, Taylor, & Brynlee, Grand daughter Sarah (Tyller), great grandchildren Ethan & Allison and son John (Diane) Predeceased by his wife Anne and brother Robert
