A visitation for Allen will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, Texas 79605. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Tonk Valley Cemetery Graham, Texas.
Allen William Burgess was born May 11, 1938, in Bryson, TX to the late Walter William Burgess & Alma Cordelia (Riddle) Burgess. Allen attended & graduated from Bryson High School in 1957. He was involved in football, FFA, baseball, junior & senior play & track. He was voted most witty boy, as he never met a stranger. He became and retired as a carpenter throughout his life.
Survivors include his son: Allen William Burgess & wife Cindy of Stephenville; grandchildren: Brittney Harper & husband Chase of Weatherford, Devin Burgess & wife Stormi of Stephenville; great-grandchildren: Brenlee Burgess, Leighten Harper, Kale Burgess & Landen Harper; sister: Polly Swearingen of Amarillo, & several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy (McCarty)Burgess; parents: Walter & Alma Burgess; brother: Floyd Burgess; sister: Elizabeth Burgess
