Alma was born at home in Jones County, Texas on November 14,1927 to Dennis L. and Odessa Kelley Butler. She married Clyde F. Middleton and raised two daughters, Mrs. Audrey L. (Raymond) Murphy of Abilene, and Mrs. Dana (Gary) Adams of Palestine. Clyde passed in 1982. Alma married the late Harold J.Judd in 1989 and they enjoyed a large extended family in the Abilene area for nearly twenty years.
Alma was a long-time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served her Savior in many callings. Her favorite service involved family history research and she was passionate about genealogy. Alma was a hard worker and was employed by the Abilene State School until her retirement. After moving to Palestine together for health reasons, Harold passed in 2011. Alma continued her long fight against Alzheimer’s until her passing at The Legacy at Town Creek.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert D. Butler (Toole, TX) and sister Mrs. Eloise Price (Sweetwater, TX). She is survived by her two daughters, two grandchildren Elizabeth (Doug) Berry of Abilene and April Adamson Dumont of Palestine, her older sister Mrs. Doris (Red) Shafer of Trent, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored.
Alma is going back to west Texas to rest with her family. A viewing will be held Friday, August, 31, 2018 from 6-8pm at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10am at the same location.
It wasn’t supposed to rain yesterday, but it did, and it gave us beautiful rainbows that this west Texas girl loved. Thank you, Mother, for your love, memories, and the rain.
