Annie "Lee-Lee" Stovall

Annie Lee Stovall (Lee-Lee) passed from this life September 28, 2013, at the age of 90. A long time resident of Abilene, she was born July 31, 1923, in Burnet, TX, to Auther and Ruth Johnston and lived her childhood years in the Texas hill country. She graduated from Junction (TX) High School in 1940 and attended Abilene Christian College where she met her husband, Richard S. (Moose) Stovall. They were married for 57 years.

For many years Lee-Lee taught children’s Bible classes and assisted with youth group activities at the Northside Church of Christ. Later, as a member of the Southern Hills Church of Christ, she was active in care group ministry. She was always ready to help people in need, and she nurtured her family with love. Before her health failed, she enjoyed playing tennis and bridge, skiing, canoeing, and bird watching. She was a talented seamstress and was a Girl Scout leader for many years.

Lee-Lee’s husband and her great-grandson, Matthew Phillips, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Doris Jacoby, of Junction, TX; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Charlie Cleek of Oklahoma City, OK, and Kim and Mark Jacoby of Ft. Worth, TX; five grand-daughters and their husbands, Laura and Mark Phillips, Julie and Bruce Hibbard, Amy and Tom Keltner, Katie and Mark Stutler, and Brenda and Aaron Andress; and five great-grandchildren , Allison Phillips, Grace and Sam Keltner, and Mati and Zeke Stutler.

Her family will remember with gratitude “Granny Lee-Lee’s” legacy of faith which lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with Mark Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
