Audrey Viriginia Taylor

Audrey Edwards Vickers Taylor, 77, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at a local nursing center. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 18, 2011 at 11:00am in the Community Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 N. 2nd St. Abilene, TX. Burial will follow in McBee Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.

Audrey Virginia Edwards was born on June 20, 1933 in Milam County to the late Henry and Delilah Edwards. She was raised in Jones County where she married the late Bobby Vickers in June of 1952. She later married Terry Taylor of Abilene, where they resided for 14 years.

Amazingly generous with her time, she spent many years in church activities including, childcare, choir and cooking. In her free time she spent numerous hours gardening. Audrey worked for the Wylie School district for 20 years before retiring. During and after retirement, she worked cleaning houses, mowing lawns and ironing for many local residents of Abilene.

Preceding her in death are two brothers; Alton and Virgil Edwards. Survivors include her four sons; Donny Vickers and wife Paula of Round Rock, TX, Gene Vickers and wife Angie of Cedar Park, TX, Darvin Vickers and wife Jannie of Liberty Hill, TX and Bradley Vickers and Michelle of Abilene, TX, three sisters; Allyne Mullens of Austin, Margie McGee and Doris Brown of Marble Falls; five brothers; Alvin Edwards of Blackwell, Danny Edwards of Marble Falls, Barkley Edwards of Austin, Calvin Edwards of Florida and Melvin Edwards of Houston; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
