

Benito D. Medrano, 61, passed away on Thursday May 5, 2016 in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m., Tuesday May 10, 2016 at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview Dr. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. with a Rosary starting at 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in Abilene, Benito (known as Benny) by family and friends was the son of Consuelo and Ramon Medrano. He lived in Phoenix, AZ where he attended Glendale Community College. He had a love for kids and after returning back to Abilene, he started coaching little league baseball. Even though he was in a wheelchair, it never stopped him from his passion of coaching kids. Benny was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church where he was an usher and taught citizenship classes. He enjoyed watching the Yankees and Cowboys games and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
His father, Ramon; his mother, Consuelo; his sister, Rebecca; and his grandparents preceded him in death. Survivors include his sister, Susan Long and husband, Robert of Abilene; two nephews, Christopher Long of Alpine, TX and Raymond Long of Gilbert, AZ; three great-nephews, Anthony, Jacob, and Ryan; and two great-nieces, Sophia and Isabella. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
