Betty Ruth Colby

Memorial services will be 11:00a.m., Monday, January 20, 2014 in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St., Abilene. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.

Betty graduated from Abilene Christian College and was a member of Acapella Chorus. Majoring in English and after teaching English, she quickly found her joy in teaching music in elementary school, producing creative programs and giving piano lessons.

For many years Betty suffered from illnesses that took away her ability to participate in these joys in life and the many talents she possessed. For the past 6 years she has been under the loving care at Northern Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents, T.W. and Mable Colby; and brother, Don Colby.

Betty is survived by her brother, Ted Colby of Lewisville, Texas; her sister, Marilyn Willems of Irving, Texas; two sister-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials should be made to Abilene Christian University, T W Colby Bible Scholarship Fund or to Northern Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation.
