

Bill W. Jenkins, 88, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in Abilene. Graveside services will be held at 1:00p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in Elmwood Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Bill was born on November 17, 1927 in Goree, TX to Rev. L.S. Jenkins and Willie B. (Mann) Jenkins. He attended school at Wink, Texas and Amherst, Texas and graduated from Amherst High School. Bill attended Texas Tech at Lubbock and then went to Hardin Simmons University graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He worked for Sears and Sherwin Williams in Abilene. Bill was also an Army veteran stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, MD. From there he was stationed in the Philippines in the South Pacific.
Mr. Jenkins married Molly Jo Armstrong of Brownwood, TX on December 26, 1962. He coached and taught school for Abilene ISD for 30 years. Bill was a member of Shady Oaks Golf Club for many years and he and his wife liked to travel and play golf in many states. He was a member of the University Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Molly; a brother, L.S. Jenkins; a sister, Opal Inez Elms; and his 2nd wife, Vivian Von Jenkins. He is survived by his cousin, Judy Simpson and husband, Danny of Hawley, TX.
