

Billie J. Thornton, 91, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, August 10, 2015 in Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be 9:00a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at the funeral home.
Billie was born on July 29, 1924 in Burleson, TX to the late Robert A. and Mattie Anderson Jeffress. She attended schools in Burleson and graduated from Burleson High School in 1941. Billie married Glen Edward Thornton on January 15, 1949 in Abilene, TX. She was employed by Templeton-Kimbrough Pharmacy for 12 years and was a retired bookkeeper. After retirement her favorite pastime was cooking and baking for her family. She always wanted to make sure you were full. Billie was also a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Glen; six sisters; and four brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Norton and husband Arthur of Waco, TX and Kerry Bell and husband Paul of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren, Kristi Norton Perez and husband, Paul of Austin, Trey Morris of Abilene, Kyle Norton of Austin, Joel Morris of Abilene, and Katie Norton Gonzalez and husband, Andrew of Crawford; three great-grandchildren Morgan Morris of Abilene, and Chase and Ethan Perez of Austin.
