

Caroline Rankin, 73, passed away and joined our Heavenly Father at 6:30a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 10:30a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Brooks and Rev. Amy Wilson Feltz officiating under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South.
Caroline was born April 22, 1940 in Pampa, Texas to Clyde and Carrie Lee Hodges. She graduated from Miami High School in 1958. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from McMurry College in 1962. While at McMurry, she met Paul Rankin, the love of her life. They married August 19, 1961 at the First United Methodist Church in Miami, Texas. Their marriage lasted 52 years.
She was a kindergarten teacher with the AISD for 22 years and loved every day that she got to teach children. In 1994, she was honored to be selected as Teacher of the Year.
Caroline enjoyed activities at Aldersgate UMC, especially working the annual rummage sale and with the United Methodist Women. She loved the mission trips to the Four Corners area and teaching bible studies to Navajo children. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Wesley – Open Door Sunday School Class. Professional organizations included Abilene Retired Teachers and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Paul; daughter Crista Fender and husband, Kevin of Midland; son, Randal Rankin of Fredericksburg; grandsons, Jaydon and Casey Hart of Midland; and brother, Gene Hodges and wife, Lorraine of Plano, TX.
She was devoted to God, family, and many friends. We will surely miss her.
