He attended Abilene Christian University on a football scholarship graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. Cody continued his education at Hardin Simmons University earning a Master’s degree of Education in Counseling and Human Development in 2007.
He worked at Wild Bills Pawn as a salesperson working his way up to a manager. While working there, he made it his goal to research and learn as much as he could about each and every item that came through the store. In addition, he developed many lifelong friendships. After the birth of his daughter, Kenedy, he desired to have a career that would allow him more time with his family. In September 2016, he began his career as a State Parole Officer for TDCJ and continued working in that capacity until his death.
Cody married Ashlee (Ragan) Stewart on January 30, 2010 in Abilene, Texas. In January 2015, they welcomed a daughter, Kenedy. Cody loved his little family beyond measure and never tired of sharing with others how much they meant to him.
Cody possessed a very strong work ethic and was a man of strong convictions. As a friend, his loyalty was unwavering. If he loved you, he loved you and if he didn’t, well, that wasn’t hard to figure out either. He was honest and straightforward and you always knew where you stood with him. He was a man of few words but, he loved Jesus and held strong to his faith. He was always more than willing to share his vast knowledge of all aspects of life. He loved deeply and honestly. Cody was a lover of movies, Tombstone being one of his favorites. He enjoyed listening to country music from the 80’s and 90’s.
