

With grace and quiet strength, Colleen Worley left this earth and entered her eternal home with her Heavenly Father on December 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy filled with faith, kindness, service, patience, love, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was cherished as a wonderful Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma, whose impact will be remembered by those she loved.
Colleen was born in Ogden, Utah on June 12, 1932 to Edith Hobson Hadley and Joseph Gibson Hadley. Colleen graduated from Ogden High in 1950. In her late twenties, she relocated to California in 1959, where she met and married Robert Worley, a young Marine. While stationed in California, they welcomed two daughters, Sheron and Denise, making their small family complete. Military orders soon brought them to Abilene, Texas in the summer of 1970, where they established their permanent home.
In Abilene, Colleen began working part-time at John Beall Realtors before transitioning to a full-time position with the City of Abilene. Over nearly twenty years, she served four City Managers and five Mayors, earning respect and admiration throughout her career. She was actively involved in the Abilene Business Women’s Association and the Taylor County Extension Agency, forming lasting friendships and enriching the lives of those around her.
Colleen’s faith was central to her life. As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she served in numerous callings, most notably as Stake Relief Society President for many years. Together with her husband Bob, they oversaw the Genealogy Library for over twenty years. Her spirit of volunteerism knew no bounds, as she consistently offered help wherever and whenever it was needed.
Colleen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Lee Worley, her beloved daughter Sheron Worley Casey, and her brother Kenneth J. Hadley.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Worley (Walter); grandchildren Meagan Thorne, Brandt Worley, Austin Madore, Caitlin Madore, Carsen Dugat, Bryon Casey, Kyle Casey, Sarah Briggs, and Sadie Hudman; fifteen great-grandchildren, niece and nephew, Janet Reuter and Russ Hadley ;several Worley nieces and nephews; and Shellie Berry, who assisted and cared for her daily.
Colleen’s presence radiated warmth, compassion, and strength to all who knew her. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and generous spirit touched everyone she encountered. She made each person feel
valued and supported, offering comfort through her words, actions, and prayers. A faithful servant to her Heavenly Father, Colleen always prayed for the needs, health, and well-being of others before her own. Her memory will be cherished, and she will be deeply missed by all.
A visitation will be held at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, located at 5701 Highway 277 South, Abilene, TX 79606, on December 30, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The funeral service is scheduled for December 31, 2025, at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3325 N. 12th Street, Abilene, TX 79603. The family will receive guest in the Relief Society Room prior to the service.
A committal service will follow, at 1:00 pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery of Abilene, 7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene, TX 79601.
