Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Oplin Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8:00 PM also at the funeral home.
Cora was born on October 30, 1929, in Oplin, Texas to the late Raymond Breeding and Helen (Dickson) Breeding. She grew up in Oplin on the family farm. She moved to Abilene around 1965. She initially went to work at Larry’s Better Burger for 13 years, where even some of her children eventually would work. She then began a career as an Aide with the Abilene State School. After retiring she went on to work for Larry’s again. Cora was a former member of Oplin Baptist Church and attended Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading westerns and was very proud of her family. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Gerald Breeding and Clara Dean O’Shields; 3 grandchildren, Shane Breeding, Sheila Lambert and Dalen Wills; great-grandson, Montana Breeding and a nephew, Kenneth O’Shields.
She is survived by five sons, Dickie Breeding (Gaytha), Roy Lee Lambert(Marcia), Jerry Lambert, David Lambert(Amy) and Bobby Lambert (Cathy); foster son, Derrick Newlun; her daughter, Elaine Adams; her granddaughter she reared, Cassandra Lambert; brother, Douglas Breeding; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren with 2 on the way.
Memorial contributions can be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center or to the Oplin Cemetery Association.
