

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the church he and his beloved wife were married at St. Vincent Palllotti Catholic Church in Abilene with Rev. Emilio Sosa officiating. Interment will follow in Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Hwy. 277 S. in Abilene. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 6-8 PM with a Rosary and time of sharing at 7:00 PM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Daniel was born on December 28, 1946 in Houston, Texas to the late Daniel and Caroline (Pacheco) Ybarra. Growing up he cultivated his love for the water, swimming after school with his siblings. It was also growing up that the seeds of faith were planted in him, through attending Catholic School and being an Alter Server. Daniel joined the Unites States Air Force and served his country both faithfully and honorably. While stationed at Dyess he met Maria Sylvia Albarado. After marriage, they began their life as a military couple and growing family adding a child in just about each state they were stationed. Daniel was a proud Vietnam Veteran as well. After his military career, Daniel returned to Texas. Never one to remain idle he moved around for opportunities to improve himself professionally as a civilian and to ensure his children were in a good environment. The family finally settled in Merkel where they established roots and made many memories. He went on to work for the Abilene State School. Daniel and Sylvia were devoted members of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Merkel where they were active in many ministries. Daniel as a Eucharistic Minister, lector, and taught CCD classes for years. His faith was an important part of his life. Daniel loved people and had a unique sense of humor. He loved the great outdoors. He was a devoted family man, not only to his children but also to the many children that he was able to open his home and heart and serve as a father figure.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Anthony Trevino; and several siblings.
He leaves to cherish precious memories his beloved wife of 56 years, Maria Sylvia Ybarra; his children, Daniel Ybarra and his wife, Sylvia, Adam Ybarra, Andrea Trevino, and Joseph Ybarra; 9 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; four siblings; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
