Dorothye Adolph Mims, 90 of Eastland and formerly of Abilene, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 in Eastland. She was born on May 27, 1934 in Abilene to the late G. Adolph Rainwater and Ludie Long Rainwater. Dorothye was a graduate of Anson High School.
On November 20, 1954 she married Billy Wayne Mims in Anson, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2016. She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Mims. She was a member of Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland.
She is survived by a son, Michael Wayne “Mike” Mims and wife Charlotte of Aspermont; daughter-in-law, Markay Mims of Dallas; grandchildren, Aaron Mims and wife Jennifer, Charles Mims and wife Lauren, Lauren Gay Mims, Jason Mims and wife Lauren, Chris Mims and wife Aarica, Meaghan Matthews and husband Fred; great-granddaughters, Alexis, Jocelyn, Emma, Phebe, Aubrey, Reagan, Ashelynn, Sloane, McKenna and Paige; and great-grandsons, Sumner, Sanders and Barrett.
A visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 US Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas 79606. Funeral services will be Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.
